At first, Hardy poses in her bedroom or the apartment she shares with roommates. She has an air of shyness about her. “You could hear my roommates teasing me, and they said, ‘You’re crazy doing this,'” she recalls. “I kept it a secret for a long time. I went to film school and didn’t tell them I was doing it.” As the movie progresses, Hardy becomes more confident, more playful, and more open about his feelings. We watch her discover her identity as a weirdo through the clothes she wears. The first time we see her in the movie, she wears a yellow t-shirt that says “This shirt has a lesbian body inside” in black block lettering.
