We don’t care if the Why’d you only call me when you’re hight new shirt it is in the first place but code is maintainable or not, because the company could die in 2 months if we still can’t find a product that fits the market. We have to go as fast as possible. So we made dirty patches when there were customer complaints. Instead, we try to spend more time testing more hypotheses. A few months later, we realized that there were repeat errors, so we started adding test cases to avoid that. However, we only write test cases where the errors repeat. Sales at that time were low, in a few months it could die. We started to have a better test strategy by having more test cases after gathering more customers with more engineers on the team.
Currently, about 20% of the Why’d you only call me when you’re hight new shirt it is in the first place but previously written simple test cases/features are obsolete because they are not what the customer wants. This means we wasted 20% of our market testing effort. For now, we’re pretty comfortable with increasing test coverage by applying a stricter policy on new code but a more relaxed policy on old code. Because we can’t afford to block a period of time to fix old codes. Increasing the number of customers is always more important than anything else.
